Shopping In Of Hawaii

When you plan your visit to of Hawaii remember you will only need a few items as you will probably need a fair bit of room in your suitcase for your return trip. All the resorts have boutique shops selling everything from designer clothing, locally made clothing, all kinds of souvenirs, books, gifts and cosmetics etc.

There are plenty of shops in the main centers of the towns dotted all over the island including clothing shops, swimwear, gift, sporting goods stores as well as convenience stores, newsagents and fast food outlets. Most stores open around 9.00am and close by 6.oopm.

Larger shopping malls have sprung up and offer the convenience of having all your needs catered for at one location, for instance the Keauhou Shopping Center is an open-air shopping mall which has specialty shops, drugstores, banks and grocery stores, as well as restaurants, a movie theater and medical clinics.

There are food outlets offering everything from pizza and burgers to Mexican, Thai and Japanese. There is also free music, ukulele lessons and lei-making lessons with a seniors group every Friday and in the evening, there is a Polynesian show which is also absolutely free.

In the Waikoloa Resort, the King's Shops feature shopping, yummy eating and Hawaiian culture. There are trendy designer outlets as well as Hawaiiana boutiques giving shoppers excellent choices. The choice of dining here is outstanding with everything from takeaway foods to formal suit and tie type restaurants with food choices such as American, Continental, Italian and Hawaii Cuisine, with restaurants like Roy's Waikoloa Bar and Grill to Big Island Steak House.

Everyday there are demonstrations of Hawaiian crafts from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and petro glyph tours from 10:30 a.m. In the evenings, enjoy hula and Hawaiian guitar music. One of the newest shopping centers is a Mauna Lani with open-air walkways, designer shops and quality Hawaiian resort wear stores. But there is much more to experience here, as well as the many gift stores art displays and fine dining areas you can experience the Hawaiian mythology.

At its best as legends are portrayed using a mix of music and hula, along with costumes, sights and sounds. Free show every Thursday and Friday at 7.30 and 8.30pm. There are some great food choices at The Mauna Lani Shops, everything from seafood to steaks, from Hawaiian to Thai and for those who still aren't satisfied there is a wonderful ice cream shop called Marble Slab Creamery or everybody's favorite Starbucks. These shops are open daily from 9.30 am till 9.30pm.

At Hilo is the biggest enclosed shopping center on and boasts shops such as Macy's, Footlocker, Sears, Blockbuster Video and Waldenbooks to name a few. There is also a selection of Hawaiian shops selling locally made apparel and souvenirs. There is also a nine screen multiplex theatre for your enjoyment.

Other centres include the Puainako Town Centre in Hilo, and the Kona Coast Shopping Centre and Lanihau Centre in Kailua-Kona.
