The Imiloa Astronomy Center at Hilo offers you a chance to gaze at the stars, only at sea level. Opened to the public in 2006 this center is housed beneath 3 titanium cones that represent volcanoes. The planetarium has an IMAX movie presentation that makes viewers feel like they're flying through space.

 For those looking for nightclub and bar entertainment, there are many clubs and bars offering a variety of music and fun. The Clipper Lounge offers Enjoy cocktails, a light bistro menu, and Hawaiian music and hula in a nostalgic setting whilst the Kahakai bar which is a thatched-roof bar offers loads of fun and is just a stone's throw from a beautiful white sandy beach. 

Nightly entertainment is provided by most resorts including traditional Hawaiian music, jazz bands and rock and roll nights. Other bars dotted around cater for the younger set with live bands playing original compositions or covers.
