The Big Island Of Hawaii Restaurants

Whatever your tastes in food, you can find it here on of Hawaii. If you wish to indulge in local Hawaiian cuisine then there are many places to eat and most resorts will have Hawaiian dishes on their menus along with western dishes to please all tastes. The majority of big restaurants are along the Kona coast where tourism is the biggest and some ten to be a bit on the pricey side.

Although there are some really good places to eat in North Kohala, Waimea and Hilo, with less populated areas such as Ka'u. The Hamakua Coast and Puna having a few restaurants open for dinner but have some really good lunch deals. All along the coast very experienced chef are employed who can create delicious meals pulling dishes from the very varied cultural backgrounds of the islands. These Chefs have to cater for the many festivals that draw hundreds of people such as the Great Waikoloa Food, Wine and Music Fest at the Hilton Waikoloa Village and the Cuisines of the Sun at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel.

With more and more young people moving into the Kainaliu area and opening their own businesses smaller eateries are springing up and becoming more popular as are vegetarian and organic cafes with some offering organic produce and funky clothing for sale as well.

There are many restaurants serving Hawaiian food all with prices between $10 and $55 per meal such as The Bamboo restaurant on the Kohala Coast serves great Hawaiian dishes.

It is a little out of the way but the meal and service are wonderful and is fully licensed. Friday and Saturday night feature local musicians to entertain you. With meal prices between $10 and $35 it is good value.

A great place for breakfast or a meal at any time would have to be Ken's House of Pancakes. Open 24 hours a day on the main route between the airport and the many hotels along Banyon Drive, Hilo residents have been dining here for years. Apart from pancakes there are over 180b dishes served here by the friendly staff and with prices starting under $10 it is a great place to stop and refuel the tum.

There are restaurants serving all manner of cuisine such as American, Chinese, Contemporary, French, German, Seafood, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Steak, Mexican and Thai in different areas of so you are sure to be able to find something to suit.

Most places take credit cards but it is always wise to check first as there are a few who stipulate cash only. Neat casual attire is the most that is required in these restaurants especially since the climate is very balmy in summer and in winter a cardigan or jacket is all that would be needed for a short stroll to and from the restaurant.

Children are always welcome at most restaurants, with high chairs often available for the younger ones. Staffs at these restaurants are friendly and helpful and always happy to convey any special food requirements to the chef.
